In attempting to correct an error in the marriage date and principals for Ratliff Thompson and Catty Compton (see query at end of this message), I further compounded the problem by making some egregious errors in follow-up posts. Here are the corrections: Ratliff THOMPSON, b. 1767, s/o Archibald Thompson and Mary Elswick, m. Catty Compton Feb 10, 1762, Green Co., Ky., per Lula Hankins Hunter's transcript of Archibald Thompson Diary posted at http://www.public.asu.edu/~moore/archibald THE MARRIAGE DATE IS FEB 10, 1797. Because the diary is over 200 years olds, some of the handwriting is hard to decipher, so the 10 Feb date is likely 18 Feb. WHERE I CAME UP WITH THE 1762 IS BEYOND ON. See next para. for note about Catty's birth date. In a record posted at the KYGREEN list by Barbara Marsh and rnichols, Catty's birth date is 1797, her father is Wm. Action, and bond is by Margaret Acton. THIS IS JUST PLAIN WRONG: I DON'T KNOW WHEN CATTY WAS BORN, AND I AM PASTING BARBARA MARSH AND RNICHOLS POSTS ABOUT THE GREEN CO., MARRIAGE RECORD (PASTED BELOW). I REGRET THE ERROR. Thompson RATLIFF, b. abt. 1802, s/o Nathan Ratliff and Mary "Polly" Farmer, named in his father's 1835 will, Montgomery Co., VA., m. Nancy Bromley abt. 1822, Ky. A record for William T. Steward, Lancaster, Ark., says Stewart went to Texas with his grandfather, Thompson Ratliff, by whom he was reared. (sources include Tom Thompson, will record, and Michael Ratliff). I DON'T KNOW WHAT CORRECTIONS ARE DUE HERE, BUT I HAVE GOTTEN A MESSAGE FROM A DESCENDANT OF THOMPSON RATLIFF AND MAYBE SHE CAN STRAIGHTEN US OUT.
