This is in response to the request for a roll call. My ancestor, Henry Compton, was of the family of Quaker Comptons who moved from the Bush River area of South Carolina to the Miami Valley of Ohio in the early 1800's. Hinshaw's Encyclopedia of Quaker Genealogy has meticulous records of this Quaker crowd, but unfortunately by gggrandfather Henry married, "contrary to discipline," a Methodist young woman named Mary Horner, so the Quaker record says nothing about her. All I know is that she was from a "pioneer family" of the Miami Valley area. If anyone can tell me more I shall really appreciate it. Henry was born October 21, 1798, in South Carolina. His parents were Stephen Compton (born August 29 1774 in South Carolina) and Dinah Milhouse. Stephen's parents were Samuel Compton, immigrant, and Elizabeth Lewis. I think they were married in Pennsylvania, but I have no idea who Elizabeth's parents were. Bill Compton - wrcomp@islc.net
