I'm looking for any information on William Compton born ca 1720. He came from Lunenburg Co., VA and purchased land in Halifax Co., VA in 1763. He is listed on the first List of Tithables of Pittsylvania Co., VA in 1767. He died about 1774 Pittsylvania Co., VA. I believe William's wife's name was Rachel. Does anyone know her maiden name? Where they were married? Anything? Known Children of William: (1) John Compton (My line) born ca 1745 married Mary Crews Culpepper Co., VA 1765, died Halifax Co., VA 1800. (2) Meredith (3) Calb Sr. (4) Housine (Housin). John & Mary's Children were: (1) Richard (My line) born ca1765 married Mary Kirk dau. of William Kirk in Halifax Co., VA Oct. 19, 1802.
