I am looking for info on my ancestor who appears both as Augustine and Augustus Compton born ca 1750/1755. He lived in Culpepper Co, Va. and served in 6th Cont Line and 10th Cont line -- wounded at Battle of Brandywine and was at Valley Forge. Moved to Nelson Co [Lincoln Co] Ky. where he married Ann Threlkeld 14 June 1784. She was a widow of Moses Threlkeld and a daughter of James Peyton. Augustine died in late 1789 or early 1790 leaving 3 children/ We had been told that he was the son of Zachariah Compton and Mary Middleton but this is impossible as they did not even marry until 1770 so now we are not sure who his parents might be. Would you please check and see if you have any info on a Augustine [Augustus] Compton. Charles
