    1. RE: Re spelling
    2. Charles Compton
    3. Bruce: This situation on the spelling is worse that you describe ! I have land deeds where the name is spelled differently within the SAME deed ! Most of these deeds were written or copied by a court recorder (error source), and then copied again (if you got the document from a book). The WPA did a lot of copying of documents, so that's a third time. Now you have error on top of error. You need to do your research with ALL variant spelling possibilities in mind, always. Approach it as though there is no right or wrong, for there may not really be ! 3. copy and paste from CRUMPTON list: Hello to all, I have been quietly on the list for a while hoping to find my Mid-Missouri Crumps, specifically Matha Jane Crump married Boone Co, Mo in 1847. However, I noticed that in my Briscoe and related lines from Maryland there is a Judith Compton who married a James Swann. James Swann was born about 1670 and died in 1707, so Judith Compton would be no spring chicken if alive today, though I have no dates of birth, death or records of children. Are any of you Crumptonians familiar with this couple? I would sure love to hear from you if you have any information. Cordially, Philip Lindsey
