John S. Ledford was sheriff of Craig, Moffet Co., CO. in 1912 and newspapaer accounts have him as responsible for 'temporarily' detaining a part of the "Hole in the Wall Gang" of that particular time. His wife was Ella. He apparently married again after Ella's passing since he is listed in 1930 with ("Anthea??) He is 68 and she is 66. He was also a forest ranger. Have found his cemetery record as 1860-1937 at Fairview Cem in Craig. Census record has him born in Georgia with both parents born in North Carolina. Another source has him as b & d 1869-1937. The latter dates of birth and death match with a John Ledford I'm searching for. My particular John is the son of James E. Ledford and Matilda Brown. This couple along with others left Polk Co., TN (extreme SE portion of the state that adjoins both NC and GA). James and Matilda resided in Leadville, CO in the 1880's. In the late 1880's he is widowed from Matilda and remarried to Belle Carey/Erwin/Moore/Ledford. John is born in the late 1860's and siblings are Benjamin Franklin & Myra. Belle has dtr., Maude Moore. John, Ben and Myra all born in Fannin Co., GA. Ben and Myra go to Santa Barbara Co., CA. In 1928 when James Ledford dies his obit states that his son John is living in Colorado. The 1920 & 1930 census shows one other John Ledford which definately is not the one I'm looking for. Is there a resource for any genealogical data on Sheriff Ledford? I've searched the Moffet genweb with no luck except for the cem. records. I could use an obit. Anyone researching this group? I am searching for any information relating to my great uncle, James G. Clayton. He was born August 11 1882 in Kansas or Iowa. His parents, Eli and Hannah Clayton died in 1893 and 1895 when James was 11 and 13 years old. I have an obituary of one brother, William Clayton, who died at the home of his brother, Dr. James Clayton of Craig Colorado, from a July 22, 1920 Iowa newspaper. I found James G. Clayton in the 1930 census in Moffat Co Craig CO with a wife Fay and occupation of physician. I just found on the Moffat web site that he was mayor of Craig from 1923 to 1925 and then was elected to the boad of trustees in 1925, from the newspsper tidbits, early elections. Many thanks to the person who contributed that! Does any one have any other information on this man? I would like to know his education, who he married, how long he practiced in Craig, where and when he died. An obituary would be excellent. I am afraid I am rather clueless about this man and would love to find out something about his life. Thanking anyone in advance for any information, Beth Zaring/Ohio _________________________________________________________________ Send a QuickGreet with MSN Messenger http://www.msnmessenger-download.com/tracking/cdp_games

I'm looking for descendants of the Henry Clay Monson family, who were among the first settlers of Routt County. William Kernaghan married into this family. William practices medicine in Steamboat springs for at least 10 years, and married (Agnes) Blanche Monson, daughter of Henry Clay Monson. Blanche's brother, Ray (Claude Raymond Monson) was a District Attorney in Routt County and brother "Doc" (Hugh Ellis Monson) died in Denver but was buried in Steamboat springs. I have undated newspaper articles on these families. The families lived in Routt county from the mid 1880s until well after the turn of the century and maybe into the 1920s. A search of the internet whitepages.com does not show in Monson's living in Routt county at the present time. I am most anxious to find a descendant and will appreciate any help I receive, as I have vital information for them. Bobby Dobbins Title in Loma Linda, California
Can any one help me find this obit thank you Shirley Moffat Co
The family of W.R. Baker moved from MO to Meeker, CO and later to the Lily Park/Maybell/Sunbeam area around 1900-1910. The family included wife Margaret (nee Hope), sons Fray and Charles and a daughter Susie. W.R. and the legendary canyon hermit, Pat Lynch of Pat's Hole, whom the Bakers cared for in his last years, are buried together in the Lily Park area on a private sheep ranch. One of Fray Baker's cabins is still extant in the Dinosaur National Monument Park. I am particularly interested in locating any of the descndants of the son Charles Baker, who I believe had two daughters, or anyone who has information about his wife or daughters. Thanks in advance for any help! --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!? LAUNCH - Your Yahoo! Music Experience
