    2. Terry & Teri Cleaveland
    3. Things are getting a little better on the lists, and I suppose that with school starting and less vacationers, it will continue to improve, but we are still getting a quantity of bounced messages. Please make sure that you unsubscribe, if possible before changing providers/servers. If you think that your mailbox might overfill while you are gone vacationing or otherwise, please unsubscribe and resubscribe when you return. Lastly remember, when posting a message use the XXXX-L@rootsweb.com address when subscribing or unsubscribing, please use XXXX-L (or D)-request@rootsweb.com Thank you so much, these lists have really been great! We will be heading home this evening so it will be a couple of days before I can get back online. :-( I have to leave our new grandson! :-( Teri --------------------------------------- Terry (Phil 4:13) Teri (Ps 37:5) Lancaster, OH pastor751@greenapple.com http://www.greenapple.com/~pastor751 A memorial page for Troy 1975-1997 TREASURES-a helpful page with a little of everything http://www.rootsweb.com/~mtwheatl/index.html http://www.rootsweb.com/~mnisanti/Isanti/ http://www.rootsweb.com/~cosanmig/ http://www.rootsweb.com/~comontro/index.html http://www.rootsweb.com/~codolore/index.html

    3. Thought you might all enjoy this: It was the first day of census, and all through the land >>each pollster was ready ... a black book in hand. >>He mounted his horse for a long dusty ride, >>his book and some quills were tucked close by his side. >>A long winding ride down a road barely there, >>toward the smell of fresh bread wafting, up through the air. >> >>The woman was tired, with lines on her face >>and wisps of brown hair she tucked back into place. >>She gave him some water ... as they sat at the table >>and she answered his questions ... the best she was able. >>He asked her of children. Yes, she had quite a few -- >>the oldest was twenty, the youngest not two. >> >>She held up a toddler with cheeks round and red; >>his sister, she whispered, was napping in bed. >>She noted each person who lived there with pride, >>and she felt the faint stirrings of the wee one inside. >>He noted the sex, the color, the age... >>the marks from the quill soon filled up the page. >> >>At the number of children, she nodded her head >>and saw her lips quiver for the three that were dead. >>The places of birth she "never forgot" >>was it Kansas? or Utah? or Oregon ... or not? >>They came from Scotland, of that she was clear, >>but she wasn't quite sure just how long they'd been here. >> >>They spoke of employment, of schooling and such, >>they could read some ... and write some ... though really not much. >>When the questions were answered, his job there was done >>so he mounted his horse and he rode toward the sun. >>We can almost imagine his voice loud and clear, >>"May God bless you all for another ten years." >> >>Now picture a time warp ... its' now you and me >>as we search for the people on our family tree. >>We squint at the census and scroll down so slow >>as we search for that entry from long, long ago. >>Could they only imagine on that long ago day >>that the entries they made would effect us this way? >> >>If they knew would they wonder at the yearning we feel >>and the searching that makes them so increasingly real. >>We can hear if we listen the words they impart >>through their blood in our veins and their voice in our heart. >> >>--- Author unknown.

    1. [COMESA-L] Longwell-Guild families
    2. Tom&Carol Miller
    3. Hi! I am still on the search for any Longwell's or maybe Guild's that lived in that area and not too long ago. They are descendants of my gr gr grandfather, James E Longwell. One of his son's name was Frederick. I know that Frederick had a daughter named Vernetta and she married Omar Guild and lived in Delta and Montrose areas. Frederick had moved to that area about 1900. Anyone knowing of anyone with those names, I would love to be in correspondance with them! Thank you! Carol Longwell Miller

    1. [COMESA-L] Can anyone help me find...
    2. Sherry Gregg
    3. I know these lists are typically used for learning of those who have passed from this earth, but I need help in locating still living. I am looking for a man named Darrell Ellis. I am told that he is interested in genealogy and may have some answers to questions I have about the Montezuma County area. It is believed that he still resides in the Mancos or Cortez area. His mother (Fern D. Ellis) was the author of a wonderful book about the Mancos area, titled, Come Back To My Valley. I have been told that she is residing in an area nursing home. Although I know this is an unusual request, any help in locating this man would be very appreciated. Thank you. Sherry Morefield Gregg

I am hoping to announce some materials for lookups in a couple of weeks as I go through some of these counties collecting things. If nothing else, I will have some pictures to share on the Montrose, San Miguel and Dolores counties. Right now, we're busy taking pictures of the new grandson!
