Hello, My grandmother was born in a small cabin in Ophir, CO, (San Miguel Co.) in 1903. We know "Lizard Head Peak" was in view of the cabin. I understand Ophir became a derelict (ghost?) town/village, but a distant cousin actually found the cabin still standing in the early 70's. Unfortunately, the cousin isn't reachable, and my dad is making a trip out there soon (from FL) and hopes to find the cabin. Dear list members. I am looking for a LIVING person this time. I can't find him online. I am doing the genealogy for my son-in-law and our grandson. Johnny Alvin Daniels (age 64) is our son-in-law's Grandfather and he has only seen him about twice in his life and that when he was very young. We can't send for his birth certificate because he is believed to be alive. Dear List, I am looking for a death record for Terry's Great Grandfather. He sold his property in Nov of 1899 in Ritchie, WV, and is dead by the birth of his daughter in march of 1900. Ritchie has nothing on his death, in cem records, vital records or newspaper. We know that his brother was in Grand Junction area before 1906 when they then moved to Montrose. His inlaws leave WV around 1903, we believe. Now, it is possible that he never made it to Colorado, but it is possible that he did. I am looking for ANY kind or record for a JOHN LEE CARDER born in 1871 died between Nov 1899 and Mar 1900. We have been looking for this man for years! I have been searching for several years for the graves of five members of my family that died there between 1896 and 1900. All have the last name of Kinnaird. I would appreciate any help.
