    3. Kat, You're right, it can often be difficult. Where there is an index, the census searches aren't too bad, but I have the 1900 Census for much of Colorado and no index so doing lookups is very difficult. Especially if a town is broken up into several precincts. The two following URLs are good for locating counties. http://www.mit.edu:8001/geo http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html Again, if someone can mail me some maps, I'd be glad to put something on the webpages! 2. Good Morning, Yes I do have a comment to Teri's statement. I have spent numerous hours trying to find the County of several towns, which by the way I finally did. Now I need to know the township that County is in. Now how does one go about finding out that sort of information?? How can one look up the census if one first of all needs the town, county AND township?? Thank you for your time. Kat JstPlnKAT@aol.com

    2. Terry & Teri Cleaveland
    3. If someone could send me the precinct maps for Mesa, Montrose, Dolores and San Miguel counties, I will put them on the web pages for each county. I think that it would be advantageous to have them there. I'm not sure how much change there is over the years, But I know in other states that knowing the township has really helped. 2. Terry & Teri Cleaveland
    3. I have begun a long process of putting together an index. I can't promise how quickly I'll get to each section, but I have completed the precinct of Orchard Mesa, Mesa County, Co for the 1900 census. The page numbers may vary from the micro film versions, but probably not by much. I am taking the census from the Heritage Quest Census CD T623-127. To find this index, please go to the Mesa county site and then the look-up page. There is a link from there to the census page. You will have to back out from the page once there. http://www.rootsweb.com/~comesa2/ Good Hunting Teri - ------------------------------------- Terry (Phil 4:13) Teri (Ps 37:5) To God be the glory! 3. I just had a thought.... Wow, the roar of groans is deafening! What do you think about all of us getting to gether and listing as many high school year book as we can for each of the MESA, MONTROSE, SAN MIGUEL AND DOLORES counties as we can. Those are the ones that I CC, so those are the only ones that I can include. Anyway. if everyone that owns a year book would be willing to do lookups in the years they have, I'll bet that we could cover a terrific range. Also, in bookstores, those things are often on sale for almost nothing. I would put each school and the year that was covered and the person doing lookups on the websites. You might get quite a few requests at first, but I think it would slow down and not be an uncomfortable burden. How about it? Willing anyone? 3. Is there someone in Grand Junction, Mesa Co with access to marriage records around 1918? There are strong suggestions that my grandfather Arthur Ray BRISBIN married my grandmother Edna Hazel WIMER (or BLAIR - her first marriage) in that town. Edna had a small son by Blair at that time, perhaps five years of age. I'm desperately trying to find out anything about Edna's family as it is a blank prior to her name on my database. I would be immensely appreciative. don in laos
