    1. [COLTON] Mailing lists on RootsWeb will be disabled in March 2020
    2. Aaron Hill
    3. I am not happy about this. I received the following message this morning. Please protest this short-sighted move, if you want. Perhaps if they hear from enough us, Ancestry will reverse course. Aaron J. Hill aaronjhill.wordpress.com From RootsWeb Administration <rwmailinglists@ancestry.com> Tue 1/7/2020 9:36 AM Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. Sincerely, The RootsWeb team

    1. [COLTON] Elvira COLTON (possibly CATTON), Widow of William BOAL
    2. Aaron Hill
    3. I am looking for information on Elvira COLTON (possibly CATTON). She was born in September of 1824 in New York, according to the 1900 census, when she was living in Audubon County, Iowa. She married one of my ancestors, William BOAL. He died in 1880 in Johnson County, Iowa. I am trying to learn more about her, including if she ever remarried, when she died, and where she was buried. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: drakula159 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.colton/427/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have been trying to research where the family got these names. Laura is my great-great grandmother. She had an Aunt Laura who married a "Cotton" so I thought maybe cotton was misspelled. I have asked some of my "cousins" who inherited the name Hartwell were it came from. My response has been mostly they don't know...just thought it was a friend of my Great-great grandmother Laura's father, John Renick Osborn who was from Toledo Ohio, at one point he was a law partner with the to be President Hayes and Justice White and also a roomer at Mary Todd's mother's boarding house and knew President Lincoln. I would love to make a connection to any Hartwell Colton! Thanks holdrensharon@yahoo.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
