I don't know if anyone has answered you, but I thought I would try and give you some clues that may help. I show 2 Samuel Ard's buried in the Sterling cemetery. I am assuming that one of these is the one you are looking for. On the 1930 Census, Samuel Ard is shown as a garage mechanic. I don't know where he worked, but there are 2 car dealerships in town that have been in the same family for decades. Bill's Motors is owned by Bill Pospicil. I am fairly certain it was in business in 1930. He is in the same building the dealership was started in. Holloways Chevrolet and Buick is owned by Hays Holloway. I don't know when it was started, but I am certain it was in business as early as 1939. Both of these gentlemen are at least 2nd generation, if not third generation. Ray Smith Motors was around for a very long time. His grandson Brad Armstrong still lives in Sterling and Brad's parents are still alive and living in Arizona. Larson Ford was also around for a several decades. Leon's sons are Lyle and Richard Larson and still live in Sterling. I don't know if these gentlemen can help, but possibly they have records they can access to help you. Sammy's son, Harold, is also buried in the Sterling Cemetery. His gravesite is owned by Mrs. Jake Brdar. She passed away in 1984, but there used to be some Brdar's in Fleming. They may know something. I hope all of this non information, opens some doors that help you. If you need phone numbers for any of the people I mentioned, please contact me at csilvey1@hotmail.com and I will see what I can do. Good luck in your research! Best regards, Carol Wisdom Silvey
