I'm the Ramsay / Ramsey DNA Project Coordinator and if you're interested in learning more about your Ramsey heritage we encourage you to visit our web site http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ramsey/indexDNA.html. You can view our latest Ramsey DNA results by clicking on the scrolling Results Marque and please also find the link for a "Free" evaluation and information about joining our Ramsay DNA family. I can tell you through DNA testing I found immediately 2 other major Ramsey families that matched my Ramsey family and in just a little over 3 years now we're a group of 17 major Ramsey families. I would encourage you pass along this correspondence to your Ramsey family. Your Ramsey line is not represented in our Project and there is a good chance your line holds the key to answering many questions and looks to relate to another VA Ramsey line. Drop me an email and I'll be glad to answer your questions. 1. Re: [COLOGAN] Cheairs family
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: JudyFlowers42 Surnames: Cheairs Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.colorado.counties.logan/127.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Joseph Cheairs and wife, Tabitha Green Cheairs moved in 1833 or 1834 from Richmond County, NC to Bolivar County, TN. The couple were parents of eight children one of whom was Calvin Cheairs. who was born on the homestead in 1819. They remained in TN for about 9 years, then moved to Marshall County, MS, where considerable acreage was acquired. Calvin married Ann Eliza Hamer, after a 6 mos. trip to Texas. In the division of estates he received land in Benton County, MS. He and Eliza had seven sosns. Calvin owned land in Quitman and Coahoma Counties in MS but continued to live in Benton County. Three of his sons settled in the Dublin-Mattso0n area of MS. They were Calvin, Jr., Samuel and Benjamin. Their families are buried in a family cemetery not far from my home. Meanwhile Joseph J. Cheairs, oldest son of Calvin and Eliza became ill in 1877 and hearing about Colorado's healthy climate he made a trip there. He and his wife, Sarah A. (Jones) and children made the tri! p and settled permanently in Colorado three miles east of Sterling (Logan County). Calvin and his wife joined them in the move but retained their Mississippi holdings. Until the day he died Calvin spent his winters in Benton County, MS and his summers in Colorado. We have a lot of history in Coahoma County regarding this family and I will not try to type all of it here. I have no connection to the family but love the history of Coahoma County. Hope this will help someone. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: powmiadna Surnames: WIRTZ Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.colorado.counties.logan/581/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Logan County, Colorado as his home of record. His remains were never recovered. Soldier: HAROLD DEAN WIRTZ Born: 1931 Date of loss: July 22, 1950. POW When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The **** family is one of those missing. When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency. I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.
