I am tracing this family and am hoping that someone on this list knows something about them and/or is related to them. William J. or L. D. Collins m. Cynthia (Davis???) which ever Collins it is, they were born in Alabama, sometime prior to 1800. Cynthia (Davis???) b. abt 1792 in N. Carolina d. aft 1870 in Madison Co.,(?) Texas they had at least these children; Mary b. abt 1822 AL d. bef 1850 TX??? m. 1 James M. McDonald, 2 Mr. Boykin James Alfred b. abt 1828 AL d. bef 1880 TX m. 1 Mary E. __?__, 2 Martha Jane Paulsell Francis Lee (twin to Louis) b. 24 Nov 1832 AL d. 27 Apr 1875 Visalia, Tulare, CA m. Mary Jane Peyton Louis Davis (twin to Francis) b. 26 Jan 1832 AL d. bef 1900 TX m. Sarah J. __?__ I have a fair number of the descendants of these 4 children, but none of the lines are entirely complete. also, I believe that there are more children in this family. Cynthia was in her 30's when she gave birth to Mary, and I suspect these are just the younger children. I've researched the lines as thoroughly as possible through the census and have posted all the names to the Rootsweb message boards, but I've become stuck once again. I have not succeeded in finding where the family was in Alabama, though I have a note from my grandmother that it was "near Birmingham" and Mary's son William McDonald is said to have been born in Lauderdale Co. I can't find them there or in any of the counties surronding and including Birmingham. I live in Oregon, so researching Alabama ancestors and relatives, either in Alabama or TX, is something I can only do via the 'net. hoping this connects somehow... Cornelia
