    3. Alice Avery born in Kentucky. Dauther of Martin Luther Collins and Mary Hunter KERNERSVILLE - Mrs. Avery Collins Mackie, passed peacefully, Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the home of her daughter, Mary Jo. She was born in Hardburly, KY to Martin Luther and Mary Hunter Collins. Mrs. Mackie retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. after 37 years of service. She was a faithful member of Oak Grove Moravian Church, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin W. Mackie; and sisters, Helen Fulp, Rosemary Eaton and Hazel Collins. Survivors include daughters, Mary Jo Hull (James), Linda L. Miller (Keith); and a son, Barry Collins; grandchildren, Brian Avery Lawson, Pam Friend (J.D.) Carlos Miller, James Hull, Jr., Dawn Crews Lauten (Eric), Mary Miller Cummings and Brittany Miller; great-grandchildren, J.D. Friend, Jr., Alexandria Mabe (Jason), Amanda Cummings and Chloe Lauten; great-great grandchildren, Hunter Hull and Ava Longworth; and two sisters, Virginia Overcash and Bettie Adams. A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Oak Grove Moravian Church with the Rev. Matthew Allen officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oak Grove Moravian Church Kitchen Fund, 120 Hammock Farm Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105 or Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
