Hi Carol ~ What part of Indiana is New Albney? My COLLINS family was living near Evansville from the mid 1800's to early 1900's. This would have been Warrick County, IN. I don't have many male COLLINS' from that time, but the father of this family was Jonas S. COLLINS. He had two boys in the 1840's, Slaughter Jonas and Salvin Wyeth. Slaughter was a Union soldier in the Civil War. Both were farmers near Newburgh, and had many children. Also, Slaughter's ggrandson's middle name was "Harold".
