My COLLINS line back stops abruptly at Silas COLLINS. The Freetown, MA, vital records have him "of Dartmouth", MA, when he married Hannah WINSLOW in Freetown 4 May 1801. I haven't been able to find him anywhere else in Massachusetts vital records. One line in the LDS Ancestral File ties him to both the Lynn, MA, and Gloucester, MA, COLLINS families, but I am told by others that he probably can't be connected to both, and no one seems to know of any Silases in either family. I suppose he (1) could have been born outside MA in one of the other New England states, (2) could have come as an adult from outside the U.S., and/or (3) could have used his middle name in later life, rather than whatever name he was born with.
