William Collins came to US when he was four years old with his parents. He was born January 4, 1830 in Yorkshire, England. The Collins family settled in New York where they farmed for some years then went to Vernon Co., Wisconsin. William met and married Mary Lenton on Dec. 4, 1859. In 1878 they came to Wright Co., Iowa and settled in Vernon Twsp. William traded his farm in Wisconsin for land in Iowa. Their children: Lenton Collins, William John, James Henry, Matilda, Warren, and May. William and Mary both died in 1903 in Hardin Co., Iowa and are buried there.
