Matthew M. Collins MONTGOMERY -- Matthew Morris Collins, 80, of Montgomery Heights, Montgomery, died Sunday, March 8, 1998, in Hidden Valley Nursing Home, Oak Hill, after a short illness. He was a retired chief electrician for Hawks Nest Mining Co., with more than 40 years of service, an Army veteran of World War II, and was a recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a longtime resident of Fayette County, a Methodist and a member of Oak Hill Masonic Lodge 120, Scottish Rite Bodies, Charleston, and the UMW. Surviving: wife, Leona Garretson Collins; daughters, Linda Burk of Montclair, Va., Lois Crawford of Gauley Bridge; five grandchildren. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Cooke Funeral Home, Cedar Grove. The family suggests memorial contributions tothe Arthritis Foundation.
