Hi COLLINS researchers I'm far from knowing who my immigrant ancestor is, below is ALL I know about my COLLINS line and all I figure I'll ever know: Hattie S. COLLINS b Nov 1870 in TN (per 1900 Collin Co TX census) m 21 Nov 1886 Jefferson D. LANCASTER (per Collin Co marriage records) their children: 1. Ila Myrtle LANCASTER b 21 Oct 1886 Collin Co TX 2. Rena LANCASTER b 1894 Collin Co TX 3. Mollie LANCASTER b abt 1901 Collin Co TX 4. Jefferson D. LANCASTER Jr b abt 1908 Collin Co TX Per a newspaper article done on my g grandmother Ila M. LANCASTER DAY back in the early 1970's, Hattie was a half Cherokee orphan raised by her half sister named Betty BLAND. I didn't find a BLAND family in the 1880 TX soundex with a Hattie COLLINS in the household or with a wife named Betty so Hattie still could have been living at home in 1880 or might have still been in TN. I know that it's possible that Hattie wasn't Cherokee and could have been Melungeon but no proof there either. So...anyone have a COLLINS of either Cherokee or Melungeon descent who left orphans in the 1870s-1880s and lived in TN and/or TX? If you do, let me know! Thanks! Lauri Manda LauriMM@aol.com
