Fellow Researchers: I am trying to write an article on the four COLLINS men that entered the RevWar together in Fincastle-Montgomery 1776 and are still together in the 1780's militia list (according to Keley). I found the entry papers in Christianburg,Va. The four Collins men were George,David,Lewis, and Meredith ( possible brothers or cousins??) Meredith is my line and I have seen his christian name spelled in many ways; Merdy, Murdy, Meridia, Maryadh, Meriday. Meredith Collins b. 1760 Va. George Collins b. ? Lewis Collins b. 1754 David Collins b. 1750 We believe these may be the grandsons of old Thomas Collins of Louisa Co. Later Orange Co. All of these Collins moved from Orange Co. (Flatt River) 1758-60 to Pittsylvania Co, then Halifax Co Va. (1767 Pittsylvania Co taken from Halifax) on the Sandy River which is located in northern Henry Co. Va. Old Thomas Collins was the father of Samuel,John, George,David, and Charles. A daughter of old Thomas Collins supposely married Moses Riddle. Listed on the 1780's militia list of Montgomery Co Va. is Benjamin Sexton, Charles Sexton, DAVID COLLINS,GEORGE COLLINS, MEREDITH COLLINS, LEWIS COLLINS, ELISHIA COLLINS, John Sexton, William Bowlin, William Riddle,(son of Moses) John Riddle ( son of Moses) SAMUEL COLLINS, and JOHN COLLINS (probably a Jr.) I need help in find the residence of Meredith Collins durning the years of 1780's Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
