    3. Hi to all - Being new to the list, I thought I'd get my oar in the water early. My inquiry relates to: A. William Collins b. 1728 d. 29 Nov 1795 (A respected principal planter of Placentia.) m. Unknown Unknown ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This goes back to 1728 but I think William was born in Ireland, (County Kilearny I believe) not Placentia. I read somewhere that he was shipwrecked off the coast (possibly near St. Mary's) of Newfoundland (maybe while fishing the Grand Banks) and was brought to Placentia to recover the ordeal, where he stayed, resolving never to go to sea again, and became a planter in Placentia. We are looking for any information at all on where William came from in Ireland and how, on what ship or boat, he was on when shipwrecked off Newfoundland, Canada and his spouse(possibly married after he arrived in Nfld.). Thanks in advance to all and we look forward to interaction on this list. Regards, Wanda Collins/Ed Sisk ejsisk@sprynet.com HOMEPAGE: <http://home.sprynet.com/sprynet/ejsisk>
