I'm looking for any available information regarding Joseph Collins. I have the following: ...Joseph Collins came from the eastern shore of Maryland, near Snow Hill, where he was born in 1762. He came with an uncle to Washington County and thence to Westmoreland.[PA] he was a member and Ruling Elder in the Presbyterian Church of Long Run, and was a delegate to the Presbytery of Redstone, in 1798. He was Colonel of the Militia and is said to have established the camp for annual drill at Clover Hill. There has been a question among his descendants whether he was an enlisted soldier in the war of 1812. The records in the office of the Auditor General show that Joseph Collins was in the service as a militia man for six months, May 5, 1813 to Nov 5, 1813. The captain of his company was D. McCowan and the colenel of the regiment was Hill Rees....Joseph Collins died April 3, 1814, aged 52 years....He was buried at Long Run. [PA]... married Abby (Abigail) Byram about 1790 I am related through their daughter Phebe Collins who married James Donald. Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.
