    1. [COLLINS] Aldermen of Colchester Essex [!!!]
    2. TW
    3. MGC: The Collen and DDM researchers should make good note of this post. I can see much of the picture, I just don't have all the info I require. This John Marcum m1. Elizabeth Harris and m2. Alice Little, I would ''think'' that he would have some at some association to families connected to your Jas Markeham + Abrm Marke of EC. His TL is completely perfect too. Also any Marcum in Colchester must be sought. The Collen family is huge in its connections to positions such as Aldermen, Bailiffs, etc. I also suspect there are many people in the region of grandchildren from Colchester living in EC after 1600. We can make good note of one of the few outward movements from EC is to Wethersfield where the Mott family was connected to the church there with that Stephen Marshall chap, and then Matthew Markham m. Margaret Lan [Luan] in Myland (Mile End) in Colchester. Let us take a look at Colchester for a while: The Christmas (Crissemasse?) family has deep roots in Colchester. I suspect EC became a Haven for persons kicked out of their positions etc. Jas Markham of EC lives on the same piece of land as one John Christmas. Richard Harris preaching in Colchester: This Richard Harris is almost undoubtedly related to the Harris family in NE I would ''think'' ?. Richard Harris was well acquainted with this John Christmas of Colchester. *** Alderman Robert Mott left money to both (Richard?) Harris and Newcomen, Mott's widow. Here Robert Mott leaves money to Harris, who is Mott's widow married to ?. *** Alderman of Colchester John Mayken (Served 33yrs). *** John Christmas in Colchester L:1600 or so. [Connected Persons]: Alderman from St. Peter's: John Pye, John Byrde, Martin Basell. [L:1593]. I don't know just yet, but I suppose that would then be St. Peter le Poer back in London ?. Surprise (!!!). Back to St. Peter's where the merchant Daniel Collens family connects to the Francklyn (Goldsmith) and Taylor (Tylor) families etc. and Sparke too. We are right back to St. Peters (!!!-!!!-!!!). Here too, one must notice this John Byrde. I can only suspect that this might form part of some connection to that one Martha Collens in a previous post of mine living just north of Ipswich I think it was. I need to go back to my notes somewhere, but she was the dg of one John Collens m. to one Bird was it ?. One Mott was also the town preacher of Ipswich remember ?. And we have Richard Harris made the town preacher of Colchester in the early 1590's. That famous John Locke chap should also fit somehow too. Locke might also be spelt Lok and possibly Loker (???), last one not sure just yet. There is also 'Marks'' too. *** Alderman of Colchester John Mayken (33yrs). [Seems Mayken will be a Dutch family ?]. [Mayken might mean ''Little Mary'']. Alderman Executors of Colchester: Thomas Lawrence 1594. William Buxston 1546. The Buxton family will connect to the Collens and Acton family of Bramford I suppose. Robert Talcott b:1565 in Colchester, Essex, England, bur:16-08-1641. He was Bailiff; Alderman; J.P. Mayor of Colchester. John married Dorothy Mott. Dorothy was born in 1592 in Braintree, Essex, England. [Taylecoat]. William Turner of Colchester. Senior Bailiff Robert Mott. [John Pye]. *** *** ***: 20, infra. Deed of John Bacon and Mary, his wife - late wife of Richd. Straunge, Esquire, - and others, made to Thomas Cristemesse and others. Writing of acquittance of Richd. Flyngant, of Colchester, fuller, Margaret, his wife, - daughter of John Potter of the Parish of St. Mary-at-the-Walls, made to Thos. Cristemesse and John Colyn, executors of the will of John Potter, aforesaid. This should be yet another one of your Collens +-R (!!!). This will also be part of the same Potter and Christmas family in EC. === ***** ****: This must be noted: http://books.google.com/books?id=WGPuZG4PRzMC&pg=PA34&dq=Alderman+Colchester+John+Mayken&hl=en&ei=Y14mTJOgOMqaOO3Y3PsC&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CCgQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=Alderman%20Colchester%20John%20Mayken&f=false One John Mayken married the widow of a Colchester gentleman Robert Rokewood. Alderman John Clere helped John Mayken and his wife Agnes sell a house earlier than the terms of her late husband's will had specified. The house was sold to Alderman John Christmas, so the needs of several town leaders were served in the transaction. 1516: John Maykens, Bailiff. [Elsewhere]: John Bocher, Fishmonger. John Bocher, of St. Ives Hunts. John Bocher, alias Mayken Skinner, of St. Osyth, Essex. [Notes]: There is also some chap alias 'Walter'. Rokewood must be noted. === Harris: http://books.google.com/books?id=WGPuZG4PRzMC&pg=PA356&lpg=PA356&dq=Robert+Mott+Alderman+Colchester+Harris&source=bl&ots=SMrQHagnwh&sig=32dEmUm7dV9a4HBVNf9eY-f7SUo&hl=en&ei=dE4mTIbyO4uRjAeMtuiFAQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CBIQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=harris&f=false http://books.google.com/books?id=WGPuZG4PRzMC&pg=PA356&lpg=PA356&dq=Robert+Mott+Alderman+Colchester+Harris&source=bl&ots=SMrQHagnwh&sig=32dEmUm7dV9a4HBVNf9eY-f7SUo&hl=en&ei=dE4mTIbyO4uRjAeMtuiFAQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CBIQ6AEwAA#v=snippet&q=mott&f=false === I am going to the whole area of Colchester a hotspot named ''C1'' including Myland or very close nearby areas. +-R2D3, the give away name in the two trees is Kenelm Collens. These unusual or uncommon names are easier to follow or realize like the name Daniel Markham before 1660. So there is this ''Flemish church'' in Colchester too. This [The Oath Book or Red Parchment Book of Colchester] should be copied from the net into text file and go through it (OCR text). C1 also seems to have some great connection to one St. Botolph's in London?. There is another Edward Collins around or coming into Braintree/EC area, but a separate cousin it seems. There seems to be one Henry Collens in London probably brother to John Collens Salter + Sail Maker, or thereabouts. The Thomas Collens Alderman is just part of this web of Aldermen etc. There seems to be a lot to be found in C1. Even Jas Markham was a Deputy Constable? of EC at one time. This Wick or Wyk family is in C1 too. Lawrence surname a possibility too to DDM lines?. I have no doubt whatsoever ? that the Turnor family in C1 is part of the upper lines of the Turner family in EC. That seems even obvious to me right now. The chances that [1702 Susan MARKHAM & Robert HARISON Myland] is part of the DDM lineage is virtually 100%. Mathew Markham, [Wethersfield Essex] m:1674 at [Myland, Colchester] to [Margaret Lan][Luan?]. This would make his probable dg Susan Markham about <-28 yrs old when she got m. to Robert Harison. I am placing Susan Markham as the dg of Matthew Markham of Myland with only one single [?]. I am not sure what a 'Bocher' is, but usually alongside fishmongers, so I can only suspect it could be a 'Butcher' ?. *** Adam Mott is first heard of in 1645, when he was of New .... New York, and an alderman, married Deborah Lawrence. This should be part of this same Mott family from C1 to Braintree area where there is one Adam Mott, and the now known occurrence of Lawrence. *** John Birde, Ralph Northey, aldermen and justices of the peace within the borough, John Pye, Robert Mott, Martin Bessell and Thomas Reynolde, aldermen, ... *** ***: To be of note (Maybe?): OK, I have just looked one option up here: John Collyn, [Woolpit Suffolk] m. [Alice Birde] and has Martha Collyn, [Woolpit Suffolk][16-03-1600]. Johne Collens, [St. Botolph Bishopsgate] has dg Sibilla Collens, [St. Botolph Bishopsgate] chr?:24-05-1604. [Possibly the the one referred to earlier here!]. = Thomas Collins, [St. Mary Somerset London] m:25-05-1618 [Alice Cory] at [St. Mary Somerset, London, England]. = I have at least 2 other Martha Collins to list here. === [Priscilla Stephens of Colchester. Essex, widow, 5 June 1626, proved 17 March 1626.]: Must be associated somehow. What seems to be happening here, is that several trees just need to be filled in a lot better. All of these people are related. Let me leave it there for now .... - S.K.M. - [!!!] ========================== Took a long time to write this post. ==========================
