    1. Timothy Collins of Detroit
    2. Please excuse cross postings. Hi all, I'm new to the list. I've been slowly working on the history of my father's side of the family for almost 2 years now. I've come to a stuck point and hope that someone out there can help me out. I have very little information on the Collins branch of the family: my grandmother was Ella Charlotte Collins McGough born in Detroit, MI in 1891 her parents were Timothy Collins born in Detroit, MI 1858 and Anna Furlong Collins born in Detroit, MI 1861 Tim's parents were Richard Collins born in Ireland about 1816 and Ellen Culhane (I think) Collins born in Ireland about 1836 This is where I run into the problem ... Richard Collins became a citizen in 1856 indicating he arrived in the US no later than 1849 -- however, his naturalization papers have no other information -- no county where he came from in Ireland, no date of arrival in the US -- And to make matters worse his death certificate is apparently not filled out correctly it lists his parents as Richard and Ellen Collins (which seems to actually be his name and his wife's name). I did recently narrow down the possible churches they may have attended to just a couple. I will hopefully be able to go over the church records next time I'm in Detroit, around Christmas time. I already have the applicable census images, I know where they are burried, and I have addresses from the Detroit city directories. The other bit of information I have is that Timothy Collins owned T & R Collins Trucking (with his brother Richard) I know that it was in operation from (at least) before 1905 till 1929. My requests: If anyone is also researching this family I'd love to share information. And I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to find out the names of Richard & Ellen's parents, where they came from in Ireland, etc... Generally where do I go from here? Thanks in advance for any information and suggestions you can give me. -Liz McGough
