John Collins came to Charleston, SC, in the company of his younger brother Henry in 1679. Some time later, John went with a party into the SC backcountry and got into a skirmish, possibly with Spanish intruders. He was wounded and nursed back to health by the Cherokees. Upon returning to Charleston, he discovered that Henry had returned to Ireland, believing his brother John to be dead. I have considerable information about John and his progeny in SC, but I would like to know something about his life in Ireland before he came to this country.
