He was in 975.223 H2t, page 462, "Settlers of Somerset Co., MD, 1666-1700". He registered his cattle mark in 1681 and in 1697 he was a delegate to the assembly. He married 3 Sept 1680 in Somerset Co., MD by Mr. Francis Jenkins, J.P., Margaret Hodson (Hudson?). He was a bricklayer by occupation. His wife, Margaret Hodson died and he married Elizabeth unknown. He made several land transactions in Somerset Co., MD and lived next to a Jenkins Price. This could be where the name Price came from (only speculation). His will was written 12 Jan 1707 and was probated 9 March 1707 in Somerset Co., MD. He probably came from England or Wales. Between 1697 and 1699 Samuel Collins was a member of the Lower House of Assembly. Early Settlers of Delaware include George Collens 1680 to New Castle; Nichols Daniel Price, to New Castle in 1693. Early settlers of Somerset Co.,! MD (1666-1700) were John Cropper, Samuel Collins, Francis Jenkins (Justice of the Peace), John Holland (Hodson?), Wm Lewis, Daniel Moore, John Moore, George Moore, Martin Moore, John Peicke, John Price and James Price. In the book, Maryland Probate Records, Calendar of Wills, Vol. 3, 1703-1713 is the will of Samuel Collins and it states that his son, Samuel was born of his wife Margaret. Then he lists the property that will go to Samuel. Then he lists daughter, Mary and property she will receive. Next he lists his wife, Eliza who is executrix of the estate. After that he lists son, John, daughters Mary Collins, Sarah Clifton and Anne Adams. There is no mention of a son Price. In early birth records of Somerset Co., MD it names the children that were born Samuel Collins and Margaret Hodson. 1. Sarah Collins b. 13 Jun 1681 in Somerset Co., MD 2.
