Can you tell us more about Elisha and James Collins in both DE and Fairfield County records? What dates are on the records you have found? What type records are they? Where is Fairfield County? Rose -----Original Message----- From: Lori [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, September 11, 2005 11:41 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [COLLINS-L] Elisha Collins, Early Delaware Does anyone have information about Elisha Collins/Collings who m Elizabeth Depray? I don't have dates for this couple, but Elizabeth's father was John Depray whose will was probated 8 May 1766 in DE. An Elisha Collins appears in Fairfield County land records. My ancestor, James Collins, was in both places also. There is evidence to suggest that these two Collins men might be of the same family. Lori ==== COLLINS Mailing List ==== Need list assistance? I'm sorry not to be clear. I thought what I said was enough for someone to recognize Elisha Collings. There's more, but it may be confusing. Mary Depray m Jehu Staton 1 Jan 1765 in Sussex Co., DE Eliz. Depray m Elisha Collings date unknown. Source is her father's (John Depray) will. Jehu Staton names his nephew, James Staton Collings in his will dated 25 Dec 1772, probated 1773. He was son of his sister Rebeccah. James Staton Collins/ings was b 1755 either in Talbot or Cambridge, MD. Both names (James Collins and Elisha/Elijah Collins) names appear in Allegany Co., MD records in or around 1800. Both names again appear in Fairfield Co., Ohio records in 1806. Elisha Collins' name disappears from FCO records. But an Elisha (spelling?) Collins appears in the Pensioner's Index 1840 for Shelby Co., IN. Age 49, which can't be right. I haven't checked this out yet.
