On 8 January 1789, Joseph COLLINS of the "Precinct of Cornwall" in Orange Co., NY made his will (Liber A:88). Among his heirs he identified: -- "my loving wife Abigail" (Executrix) -- "James son of my daughter Sarah" (a minor) -- "my children" (no given names provided!) -- Executors: Jeremiah Clark, Esq., Cornwell Land (or Sand?) -- Witnesses: Samuel Ketchum of New Cornwall, Robert Waddell, Jacob VanDuzer Can anyone provide details on the children of Joseph & Abigail (-----) COLLINS? Perhaps Abigail (----) COLLINS was identical with or otherwise connected to the Abigail (-----) COLLINS cited below: "A Record of the Inscriptions in the OLD TOWN BURYING GROUND of Newburgh, N.Y., Historical Society of Newburgh Bay & the Highlands 1898 ... 93. Died, Jan 21, 1824, Abigial COLLINS, aged 100 yrs, 4 mos, 6 dys [42] ... [42] A notice in the Pliitical Index of Jan 7, 1824, states that Mrs. COLLINS was a native of New Jersey, but form many years a resident of Newburgh and among its first settlere; that her relations were very extensive, "she having arrived at the title of great-great-grandparent." She was deprived of sight & hearing for several years before her death."
