MGC: === >From Holman, Winifred Lovering, "The Ancestry of Edward Collins and Bedle-Bowles-Powell Connections in England," The American Genealogist, v.23:149-153: - - - - The will of Daniel Collins is highly important, and the abstract given by Emmerton and Waters in Collections of the Essex Institute (vol. 17, pp. 20.22) is incomplete and unsatisfactory in some respects. I therefore obtained a photostatic copy (Twisse, L. 80, Commissary Ct. Reg.) of which the following is a verbatim transcript. - - - - The Contents and substance of my last Will this Twentith of November 1639. Imprimis I bequeath my soule to God my onlie Saviour in the meritt of his deare sonne my Redeemer. My bodie to the earth in the parish of St Peter the poore Broadstreete neare my pew doors or as neare the place where the bodie of my deare wife was laid as may be. Item I give to the parish Church of St Peter the poore to make them a font of Marble stone Twentie pounds. To the Childrens hospitall in Norwich if they have taken nothing in my life in Liew of my Freedome One hundred pounds for the breeding and bringing up of young children. To Christe hospitall in London fiftie pounds. To St Bartholemews hospitall London Twentie five pounds. To the hospitall of Brideswell twentie five pounds. To the fower prisons in London, vizt. two Compters Ludgate and Newgate five pounds a pecee. To the poore in the parish of St Peter five pounds. To the poore in Marie Woolnoths in Lombard streete two pounds. To the poore in St. Edmonds Lombard streete two pounds. To the poore in St. Nicholas Coleabby two pounds. To the poore in Stratford Langhorne Precinct onlie fortie shillings. To the poore of Rodrith two pounds. To make a stock for the poore in the parish of Brainford where I was borne and my father lyeth buried fiftie pounds. To make a stock for the poore of the parish of Brayntree in Essex where my Mother lyeth buried fiftie pounds. To my sister Katharine ffranknell if shee live unmarried I give my dwelling house in Broad streete wth all the plate and household stuffe unbequeathed to dwell in and use during her naturall life shee keeping it in sufficient repaire wthout paying aine rent And after her marriage or decease I give the inheritance unto my nephew Sam: Collins. I give to my said sister Katharine in money over and besides a hundred pounds. To my brother Samuell Collins Vicar of Braintree Twentie pounds. To his sonne Sam: a hundred pounds.
