    3. I am seeking information on the HUGHES, MCANULTY, COLLINS and WALDRON families in Birmingham and am hoping someone on this list-serv may also be researching these families. Patrick MCANULTY born about 1806 in Ireland, died 1881 in Birmingham. Occupation 1841 Traveller, 1851 Hawking Silk Mercer, 1861 Clothier, 1869 Tailor, 1881 Tailor. Together Patrick and Jane had nine children - Ann born about 1835, Elizabeth born about 1837, Charles born about 1839, John born about 1841, Mary born March 16, 1843, Jane born about 1848, Agnes born about 1851, Patrick A. born about 1858 and Catherine J. born about 1861. Patrick and Jane's daughter, Mary MCANULTY, worked as a tailoress in 1869 through to her death in 1901, with one stint as a charwoman. Mary married Patrick Joseph HUGHES in 1869. Patrick was born about 1846 in Ireland to John and Catherine HUGHES. (John HUGHES was a cordwainer/shoemaker in Birmingham as listed on the 1851, 1861, 1871 and 1881 census information.) Patrick Joseph HUGHES, husband to Mary MCANULTY, worked as a tin plate worker. Patrick Joseph HUGHES died in 1890. Patrick HUGHES and Mary MCANULTY had 5 children all born in Birmingham - Norah Mary Hughes born about 1871, Joseph Bernard Hughes, born December 8, 1873, Agnes Hughes born about 1879, Malachi Hughes born about 1882 and Margaret Hughes born about 1884. Norah Mary HUGHES married John MALPASS IN 1894. They had at least one child, Norah M E Malpass, born about 1900. In 1894 John was working as a tubo drawer and in 1901 as a blacksmith labourer. Norah Mary was working as a tube charger employee in 1891. Joseph Bernard HUGHES was a brass bedstead worker. He married Elizabeth COLLINS in 1900. Elizabeth was born December 25, 1880 in Smethwick. Joseph Bernard HUGHES and Elizabeth COLLINS had 2 children, Bernard Hughes, born July 12, 1901 and Charles Hughes, born 1903. Elizabeth and the children emigrated to Saskatchewan, Canada about 1912 or so. I do not know what happened to Joseph Bernard Hughes. Elizabeth's second husband was Matthew Henry WALDRON. She and Matthew had 2 children together: Ron Waldron born in 1909 and Ruth Waldron born in 1912. Hopefully, one of the names listed above will register with someone. Thanks. Carolyn Canada
