My James Collins was married to Mary Kirtley in Orange Co., VA. She was the dau. of Col. Francis Kirtley and Margaret Roberts Kirtley. Mary was b. ca 1735 and d. 1796 in Madison Co., KY...James Collins' will was dated 1781, in Culpeper Co., VA...He had five sons, Francis, James, Tandy, Thomas, and John Collins; daughters Mary, Margaret, Milley, and Ann. Ann, daughter of James and Mary, married Edward Collins, Jr. May 1781 in Orange Co., and moved to Rockingham Co., VA. She died 1786 leaving two small children, James and John. John was b. 1782, and James was b. 1784...John went to TN and James went to KY....Edward, Jr. was the son of Edward, SR, who married Jane Jones. They had James, John, Mordeci, Lewis Dillard, Richard T., Edward, and daughters Jane, Mary, and Elizabeth. Edward, Sr. was son of John and Ann Cook, and grandson of Joseph and Susannah Lewis...Joseph and Susannah had a James who went to NC, William, Thomas, Lewis, Ann, Mary, Tabitha, Catherine, Susannah.... Every generation from Joseph and Susannah had a James, John and Lewis... I have all of this in a little better form than what I'm sending here, however, if you have a "Lewis", chances are you go back to Joseph and Susannah Lewis Collins...I can send you all of this info if you think it connects with yours. I haven't proven my James Collins' parents, but he had to be connected to Joseph in some way, and a cousin of Edward, Sr...There is the Roberts family involved as well as John Robinson's family...
