My gt. gt. gt. grandfather JAMES COLLINS was born about 1781 near Lissan, County Derry, Northern Ireland. He served in the British Army for many years, taking part in the Battle of Waterloo, in the Royal Horse Artillery. After his army career, instead of returning home to Ireland, he came to Preston in Lancashire, England and married Margaret Smellie, who was born in 1785 in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Thereafter, my Collins were all born and lived in Preston. Has anyone any Collins connections from County Derry or County Tyrone in Ireland. Parts of Lissan was in both counties.
