Every time I see a John COLLINS in the subject line, I keep hoping it might be one from Pennsylvania. So far, no luck. Seems like most of the COLLINSes headed for warmer climes! Anyone out there researching John COLLINS (b. about 1720, early settler in the Lack twp., Lancaster/CumberlandMifflin/Juniata County area), his wife Catharine, his children Margaret (married to John McEVER/McKEEVER, etc.) and Brice (wives Ann _____ and Martha _____)? Allied lines for Brice's family are HUNTER, CUNNINGHAM, STARKEY, SCOTT, and COLEMAN. An interested COLLINS descendant. Lorraine [email protected]
Hi Lorraine, Those Johns that flew south may easily be related to your Pennsylvania Collinses. I know that I have another line that ended up in Kentucky that originated in Pennsylvania. There are also a lot of William Collinses. I am interested in finding a William H. Collins b.1859 in Delaware. He married Mary Avelar b. 1863 in Delaware. They were married in 1883 and had Mary, Robert, William Frank, Rhoda, Hurasha, Levin, Emery, Ross, and Marie. They are found in Wicomico Co. and other locations in Maryland. William's father was another William, perhaps born in Maryland. Can anyone help? I'd love to know which line of Collinses he comes from. Karen, There aren't a lot of Leven/Levin Collins men. I'm trying to figure out where that name got started... I know I've seen Leven Collins in the early 1700's in Maryland. I'd love to compare notes with anyone having a Leven or Levin Collins in their line. I'd be happy to compare notes with you offline. I might as well ask about the parents of one more William Collins. William Smith Collins was born in 5/30/1798 or 1799 in Stepney Parish Somerset Maryland. His parents were James O. (? O'dell) Collins and Sarah or Eleanor McGraw. James was a sailor and drowned in the Chesapeake Bay. James O. & Sarah are among my solid brick walls; I can find very little on them.
