Please put the answer on the List.......I'm sure that I'm not the only other Collins researcher who is interested. Happy Familying.............. Laura Irby in VA Collins listers. Has anyone out there ordered that book on the Collins Family as listed at this web site: http://www.genealogytoday.com/roots/xweb.mv?xc=Product.Order&xo=higginson&xt=H IGGINS-C&xn=16&xr=388&sn=Collins&xz=surnamef I am a bit concerned about buying something that has no details in the credits. Maybe someone has read it and can say if it is useful. Maybe someone has a used copy they want to sell for less. I am tracing the family of William C Collins, b. ~1795, ?, wife, maybe Jane ?, b. ~1805. Bits of info I have found in the last two years indicate that he served in the Creek Indian Wars, got land in Jackson Co, AL, started a family, sold his AL land in 1831 and went to Illinois to serve in the Illinois Militia during the Black Hawk Wars, (several Collins families made the same move because ex-military from GA/TN/SC/NC got script from the Gov't for land in IL/MO/AR Terr.) then he sold and went to Texas, got land in Nacogdoches Land District, TX, before 1840 (Smith Co today), then sold and went to Cass Co, TX in 1850, where he apparently died. In regards to the book, maybe this William has a link to a Collins line in GA/TN/KY/SC/NC. Porter Click 1284 Crabapple Rd. Big Sandy, TX 75755 [email protected]
