    3. Karen, Is there any chance that your Collins line is connected to mine. My GGgrandfather, Jacob Collins was born abt 1839 in Maryland according to the census. I have found no record of his ancestors. He was married 15 Feb 1862, in Greenville, Darke Co, Ohio to Lorenia "Rene" Goshorn. They had 9 children before Lorenia's death sometime after 1880. Although they occasionally lived in Union City, Indiana they lived most of their married life in Ohio. (Greenville, Ohio and Union City, Indiana are only a few miles apart...one being on the Ohio side of the state line and the other being on the Indiana side.) I am interested in finding a William H. Collins b.1859 in Delaware. He married Mary Avelar b. 1863 in Delaware. They were married in 1883 and had Mary, Robert, William Frank, Rhoda, Hurasha, Levin, Emery, Ross, and Marie. They are found in Wicomico Co. and other locations in Maryland. William's father was another William, perhaps born in Maryland. Can anyone help? I'd love to know which line of Collinses he comes from. 2. This is a long shot, but have any of you tried looking at the COLLINS famly who was in Quebec Canada in 1800? These people left Mass. in the late 1700's, then stayed a short time in Vermont before moving to West Brome Canada and later, St Hyacinth -- all in eastern Quebec. They weren't Torries, since they both were Rev. War Soldiers under George Washington. Children of these families began coming back to the USA around 1820-1830. Some stopped in Ohio and stayed a short time, and others went on to Illinios and Indiana. Just a suggestion, since many times you don't think to look in Canada when following a USA family.. 3. Thank you Michael. You would think that at least one of these many people subscribing to this mailing list would have found a child born Jacob in one of their lines who would be about the right age for me to dig from. Unfortunately like others here have noted it is especially hard when you have only one name and uncertainty about so much more. I've often wondered if he broke off ties with his ancestoral family for some reason. Especially when he virtually gave away his children when hard times came instead of reaching out for help to his family. I've been searching for his relatives for about 15 years now, I hope it doesn't take another 15 to find out something new.
