Don, Thank you for sharing that bit of English history with everyone on the Collins name. My Mitchell Collins is known to come from Northern Ireland. Mitchell Collins b. Nov 1823 and immigrated Oct 1859 to New York and spent several years working in the oil fields of Pennsylvania. From there he moved to the growing, bustling city of Clinton, Clinton Co. Iowa, on the Mississippi River, with two friends: Prentice Holmes and Jerome Scofield who were witnesses when Mitchell became naturalized 1876. Mitchell married Ann Eliz. Gravenor 1871 (b. Messingham, Lincs Co.) and had four children before moving in 1881 to the village of Waltham, North Tama Co., Iowa where he farmed and lived a quiet life. Mitchell never left a clue to which County he came. I'm leaning toward Antrim where other families living near him, also immigrated to Tama County, Iowa. Bonnie
