hihi all We're looking for our John Robert Collins who married Rebecca Middleton most likely in or around Green County, Ohio. We're not sure of the dates, but we estimate John Robert to have been born sometime between 1830-1860. John and Rebecca had at least 14 children, one of which was a daughter named Frances W. Collins who married Charles Talyor Tarpenning in Xenia, Greene County, Ohio. Frances and Charles had two daughters, Mae Tarpenning, and Helen Leona Tarpenning was b. 2/23/1895 in Xenia. Helen is my great-grandmother. We believe that Rebecca Middleton may be at least half-Cherokee. Another possiblity is that John Robert's mother was a Cherokee (or possibly Delaware) Indian. (Some of Frances's siblings still had strong resemblances to the Indian genetic paterns and Helen remembered her granmother as "looking like an Indian Sqaw.")
