MGC: [(*****): Bargain and sale (for £960) by John Eldred and Wm. Whitmore, Esqs. of London to Wm. Acton, gent., of Ipswich of manor of Bramford with its rents and rights and property. 20 Jan 1611/12.]: In 1612, William Whitmore actually buys land right here in Bramford. He is quite often mentioned alongside John Eldred, probably related. This seems to be quite a high ranking Whitmore family too, as well as Acton. Also coming out from Bramford is John Sicklemore/Ratcliffe [!!!]. The early one d:1610, and he was Governor of Virginia, and remember that Robert Markham 'Mariner' was with him. [John Sicklemore alias Ratcliffe, Captain of the Diamond now bound for Virginia]. But the slightly later one: [... which were given unto John Sicklemore Esq. and me, the said Thomas Griggs, by Abigail Markham als Marchant of Ipswich widow, ...]. After further review, the ''als'' finally means ''alias''. I suspect she was the wife of this William Markham, Merchant of Ipswich. We clearly need to know who these people are (!!!). [Abigaill Heart, widow of Robert Hart]; [Abigall (widow of Robt. Hart), now wife of Samuel Petts]. This Abigail lives to at least [1643] (???).
