Recently I was converting some information from hard copy to dist and found this info on the Justus family which included COLLINS info. I would really appreciate hearing from anybody that is linked to this line. Many ended up in Nicholas County, WVa. at a area called Birch River, WVa. The census shows Taylor children with this family and I also would like to learn where they came from. They were raised as COLLINS. Thank s for any help in advance. Death records were obtained to confirm that fact. According to morman records, Edward J. Collins was also called "Ned' Also they say he was born 1801 to a George Collins, but details are sketchy until source records are obtained from Salt Lake City, Utah. The mother's name is not mentioned but perhaps it could have been the Nan Hurley, that family members have mentioned. NOTE: My record show Edward to be son of Meredith Collins of Pike Co. KY Daughter of Edward ,by first wife Polly Blackburn , who died 1833 Family papers assumed Edward 's first wife was Nan Hurley but Morman records show Polly Blackburn his first wife. NOTE: It is not known why several of the children went by the surname of Taylor on early census records but in communicating with a descendant of Hirma listed above the family didn't know of the Taylor name til I brought it to their attention. <<<<--------------------------------------------------------------->>>> Hiram Collins ,son of Edward and Anna Justus Collins,born 1855 in Knox Creek, Tazewell County, Virginia.( present day Buchanan Co. Va.) Hiram married 1879 Kizzah Justus ( his cousin) , d/o James Riley Justus and Elizabeth Davis. He was 23 and she was 17.Hiram died 1933 Birch River, Nicholas Co. WVa. Kizzah died 1906 also ar Birch River. Hiram and Kizzie purchased several hundred acres of land in Buchanan county, Virginiaand while living near Hurley, Virginia twochildren were born.
