I'm hoping someone can help me. I have been up against a stone wall for so long. The first James A. Collins was in the 1850 U. S. Census, Warren County, Warrenton, North Carolina. He was listed as being 78 years old and a printer. The second James A, Collins was in the 1860 Census, Warren County, Warrenton, North Carolina. He was age 38, printer, (so I have assumed he was son of the first James A,) married Susan Barnes in 1844 in Granville County. He was my great grandfather.. They had six children: John, Frances, William, James Polk (my grandfather) and Thomas Henry. I have much more but nothing prior to the 1850 Census. If this is of any help, I will be glad to send more and in detail. I will be most grateful for any help. I am now 85 and have been working on this for a long time. Many, many thanks!!
