I would like everyone to know about a match we've made on this COLLINS newsgroup! A day or two ago, I posted a message that I was looking for parents for my Slaughter J. COLLINS of Indiana, who was a Union soldier in the Civil War. Almost immediately I was given some information from Jcornwell@erols.com that his ancestor was Salvin COLLINS, brother to Slaughter!! And to make things even better, he has a web site with stories and the ancestors of this family all the way to Henry COLLINS born in England abt 1606! http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/c/o/r/Joseph-D-Cornwell-iii/index.html The line goes like this: 1606 Henry COLLINS + Ann (England) 1631 John COLLINS + Abigail JOHNSON (Lynn, Essex, MA, & RI) 1679 John WIlliam COLLINS + Susanna DAGGETT (Lynn MA,& RI) 1718 Ebenezer COLLINS + Sarah FLINT (Salisbury, MA) 1735 Ebenezer COLLINS + Mariah COLLINS (Southboro, MA) 1762 Ebenezer COLLINS + Annie STOW (Chatham, NY) 1795 Jonas Ball COLLINS + Eleanor BRISCOE (Berlin, VT & IN) 1840 Slaughter Jonas COLLINS + Elizabeth Comfort PEARSON (Newburgh, IN) had these children: Urie, Eula, Cora, Karr, Hixa, Phoebe, Blanche, Olive, and our ancestor --- 1892 Louis Springer COLLINS + Gladys ROUNDS (IN, MO, & Tulsa, OK) In just one email, I was able to find seven generations of my husbands COLLINS family! I had photos of the mid-1800's COLLINS family, but no dates or surnames. Now I can share these with Mr. Cornwell. Thank you Rootsweb!
