    1. Re: [COLLINS] Collins family from Brome county, Quebec
    2. My family line comes from Ebenezer and then to his son Jonas Ball (middle name mislabeled as "Brigham" below). I do have the lineage for Henry somewhere, but I'll have to dig to see where it might be. Below are the children of Ebenezer. This line is well recorded because Ebenezer's daughter, Martha, married David White Rogers and they were early followers of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, eventually moving to Utah. The LDS has a lot of information about that family. I do know that Henry had at least one son named Edward, because a son of Edward (Judge Otis?) wrote a memoir about his grandfather and his service with George Washington. This file belongs to someone other than me, but it's the best I can do for now: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~lzrslong/b1061.htm#P156335 Ebenezer COLLINS4,5 was born on 23 Jul 1762 in Southboro, Worcester, Massachusetts.4,5 He died on 18 Jun 1881.4,5 He is reference number RO1306. Are the descendants of Henry & Ebenezer Collins published anywhere? Thanks so much for that clue. I hope it matches up! ~Sarah n Sat, Oct 2, 2010 at 9:32 PM, <boatkitten@aol.com> wrote: > My Collins family lived in Quebec, starting in 1795. But they had come to West Brome, Quebec from Vermont>New Hampshire>Massachusetts. These two brothers were descendants of "Henry the Starchmaker" Collins of Lynn, Mass. The two who migrated to Brome in 1795 were Henry Collins and Ebenezer Collins, both US veterans of the Revolutionary War (not Tories). Henry was the first settler in West Brome, and there is today a large "COLLINS" stone erected on the original cabin site by the Brome County Historical Society in 1895. (we drove up to visit this stone in 2001). They remained in Canada for 20 or 30 or so years, having many children there. Some children stayed behind - some serving in the Candian armed forces. Both brothers returned to the US by 1840, both moving to the Chicago area. (Henry to Lake County @ north end of Chicago, and Ebenezer to Will County near Joliet). Could your Charles Collins be a descendant of one of these brothers? Warren Collins sounds like he could be a grandson of one of these men.
