    3. ?MGC: I thought you might find this of interest: Carrying on from John Bedle of Barnston Essex: [John Watson married Abigail Beadle, daughter of John Beadle]. I don't have all the info. This is the Thomas Watson chap: http://timmybrister.com/2008/03/11/who-is-thomas-watson-2/ [1646: Watson went to St. Stephen's, Walbrook, London, where he served as lecturer for about ten years, and as rector for another six years, filling the place of Ralph Robinson]. So here we find one Ralph Robinson and there is also one John Robinson whom I can only suppose must be of near kin?: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Robinson_%28pastor%29 This is the John Robinson on the 'Mayflower'. [1604: Robinson became pastor of St. Andrew's Church, Norwich]. [1606: He left the Church of England and became a Separatist. Later that year, a group of Puritans in the nearby village of Scrooby formed a Separatist congregation that came to number about one hundred members. John Robinson returned to Gainsborough and became a member of John Smyth's Separatist congregation that met, in secret, at Gainsborough Old Hall under the protection of its Lord, Sir William Hickman and his mother, Rose. However, at some point, he seems to have joined up again with the Separatists in Scrooby. The congregation met at Scrooby Manor, the home of William Brewster. Brewster was the local postmaster and bailiff, and he was instrumental in the formation of the group. He was an old friend of John Robinson as well as a Cambridge alumnus. Richard Clyfton served as their minister, and John Robinson became the assistant pastor when he united with them. Other leaders included John and William Bradford, the latter of whom gave them the name by which they are known to history when he described himself and his followers as "pilgrims and strangers upon the earth.". The congregation initially settled in Amsterdam where Separatists began to settle as early as 1593. The local congregation of Separatists was strife-ridden, and the Pilgrims left Amsterdam after the first year and settled in Leyden. The Rev. John Robinson, M. A., went to settle in New England in 1620.]. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Brewster_%28Pilgrim%29 William Brewster the Pilgrim: So the places of Scooby Lincs and Leydon Holland are important. You can note the surname of Smythe coming all over around these people. [He was the son of William Brewster and Mary (Smythe) (Simkinson) and he had a number of half-siblings. His paternal grandparents were William Brewster and Maud Mann. His maternal grandfather was Thomas Smythe. Scrooby Manor was in the possession of the Archbishops of York. Brewster's father, William senior, had been the estate bailiff for the archbishop for thirty-one years from around 1580.]. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Mary_Woolnoth http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ralph_Robinson_%28clergyman%29 This St. Mary Woolnoth is one hot spot church, it keeps coming up over and over off-list. http://books.google.co.za/books?id=DY8QwrhVw7gC&pg=PA32&dq=john+hawkins+samuel+collins&hl=en&ei=xEuwTLjQHdvNjAeg-uVK&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=5&ved=0CDoQ6AEwBDgU#v=onepage&q=john%20hawkins%20samuel%20collins&f=false Put your mouse over the middle of the book page, press the 'Ctrl' button in and roll your mouse wheel forward and you can zoom in a bit on the small texts. [Elizabeth Markham sp: Martin Smith m:11-11-1656 Saint Mary Woolchurch Haw, London, England.]. [John Hawkins was the eldest son and heir of John Hawkins of Braintree]: See here: http://blainewhipple.com/collateral-ancestors/my-hawkins-ancestors-of-essex-co-england/ [John Hawkins III (Alderman of London)] is the son of [John Hawkins was the eldest son and heir of John Hawkins of Braintree]. http://books.google.co.za/books?id=34-WXsbaBscC&pg=PA32&dq=Edward+Collins+Levant+Company&hl=en&ei=bQCxTJiCH8jKjAe31p1A&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CC0Q6AEwAA#v=snippet&q=Edward%20Collyns&f=false This has to be your (+-R) Edward Collyns before he came out to NE. Make good memory of each person mentioned in this list, it will help further. The surname of 'Salter' will also come in and about. For instance, note say Francis Cherye and John Eldred and Nicholas Leate. Go here to url below and then search for Collins in the text and then on the first hit your get [Edwarde Collins clotheworker]. I think this is your same Edward Collins of the Levant Company. Directly below him is [Fraunces Cherie vintener]. Scroll up a bit and you get [Thomas Symonds, Mr. John Eldred, Robarte Coxe grocer, Nicholas Leatt yremonger ]. http://www.sabrizain.org/malaya/library/dawnbritish.txt There nearby is: Thomas Hickock, Richard Wiche, , , , , , . [Collins, Edwarde, clothworker, adventurer.] [M* John Eldred acquainteth this Assemblie that one Thomas Eldred of Ipesw^ a man of good report who hath bene imployed w^ Capten Candishe is willing to be imployed in the voyage and would go as Capten or M*^ of one of the shippes, to whom aunswer is made that the Companie will enterteyn none vntill they see him and speake w^ him, and have willed that M* Eldred shall wiyte vnto him that he thinketh yf he come vp the Company are likelie to enterteyn him.] [Capten Candishe]: I suppose this must be Capt. Thomas Cavendish, and that is the famous Thomas Eldred 'Circumnavigator' of Ipswich Norfolk ?. === === === [To Thomas Bootheby a bill of adventure & supplies]. The James Markham property ['Bearcroft'] in EC was under one William Boosbey 'Tailor' ?. If you read the texts, Edward Collins seems to be shipping manufactured clothes around the world, to Turkey, Russia, etc. James Markham 'Weaver' would be part of the supply to this Edward Collins, he is clearly shipping clothes, and also an adventurer. He must have clocked up some serious voyager miles. He would be basically rich and famous in his day. I can only suppose when he wanted to reside in NE, James Markham's weaver business would have suffered much as a result of this. Due to the closeness of people in this L1 area of London, there would be closeness to other Markham lines etc. Below is same list: http://books.google.co.za/books?id=97cq2UASdIIC&pg=PA176&dq=william+smyth+london+salter&hl=en&ei=Zx-yTLTMEIWUjAen-_FO&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=10&ved=0CFoQ6AEwCQ#v=onepage&q=william%20smyth%20london%20salter&f=false That William Smyth there I can only suspect he must be the William Smyth 'Salter' of London ?. I need time for this, but it is close. But the basic picture is rising here. Also: [Thomas Smithe, Aldermen of London.] I suppose might also be the same [Thomas Smith Governor of the Levant Company.] ?. So it is all the Salters - Aldermen - Mayors - Companies we need to go into here. It is alongside this William Smyth 'Salter' is one John Markham L:1598. We need to know more on [Edwarde Collins, Clothworker + Adventurer]. - S.K.M. - [!!!] ======================
