    1. [COLLINS] - The Company of Twenty-Four - [!!!]
    2. TW
    3. ?MGC: Foreword: I suggest the DDM researchers make good note of this post and keep and pursue this informations (!!!). I am not sure if I am hitting on something good here !!!. We know that most of these London Mayors and to Norwich Norfolk are generally connected or related somehow. http://books.google.co.za/books?id=F6c9AAAAIAAJ&pg=PA451&dq=John+Hawkins+Alderman+London&hl=en&ei=EfWsTOvjOMeOjAeTuYDOCw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CC0Q6AEwAA#v=onepage&q&f=false http://books.google.co.za/books?ei=X_GsTPDUENHPjAeshZDMCw&ct=result&id=54NnAAAAMAAJ&dq=John+Hawkins+Braintree+Weavers+Drapers&q=Twenty-Four#search_anchor [*** ***: John Hawkins of Braintree, was a member of the Weavers and Drapers companies, London Alderman and Master of the Drapers. Principal supporter of the Vicar Samuel Collins, and himself a leading member of the town's Company of Twenty-Four.]: This would be the same Samuel Collins Vicar of Braintree Essex EN. This John Hawkins is high rank in the London Weaver's Company, and also Alderman 1628. One of the Mark Mott, Gent., Clothier of Braintree Essex, is an influential member of the Company of Twenty-Four. This is probably the Mark Mott (There are several all closely related) who connects to James Markham 'Weaver' of Wethersfield + EC. [A woollen draper or merchant engaged in buying cloth from weavers who worked on hand looms. ... entry in the same Subsidy Record, dated 1633, refers to Joseph Loomis as called by John Hawkins of Braintree "a loving friend and neighbour.]: A woollen draper is also a merchant. I can only so far assume that in Braintree Joseph Loomis and John Hawkins are neighbours (!!!). Doesn't Joseph Loomis have something to do with the power? loom ?. [*** ***: Vicar of Braintree Samuel Collins is a leading Member of the Company of Twenty-Four.], [Mark Mott, Gent., Clothier of Braintree Essex, an influential Member of the Company of Twenty-Four]: I have a feeling this could make some sort of break through for something here. It needs to be pursued further. [Mark Mott, gent., was a substantial Braintree clothier, a passive but probably influential member of the company of Twenty-Four on which his younger son Adrian was always prominent. His elder son was Dr. Mark Mott, Rector of Rayne.]. === === === The one name that catches my eye is [LITTLE]. One of the persons to always make note of, is one Richard Harlakenden, he always seems to be closer to this Markham family of EC. See Pg. 163-4: http://books.google.co.za/books?id=WAgIAAAAQAAJ&pg=PA164&dq=John+Little+Halstead&hl=en&ei=beGtTKeWDMzY4wablvGqBg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CDQQ6AEwAg#v=onepage&q=John%20Little%20Halstead&f=false You need to make note of all persons and places all round here. I suspect that James and his wife Martha 'Goodwife' Markham must be of near kin to the Harlakenden family in EC. Martha seems to employed near to them, James the Weaver will fall under this Co. 24 of London etc., and Abraham Markham is probably the gardiner / horticultural person for many and large gardens that were in EC for this Harlakenden family, and Edward Markham in the army under the Harlakenden generals ?. One Richard Harlakenden of EC has a dg Anne who m02-09-1629 John Bragg whose male issue predeceased him, and the estates went to his next brother William Bragg Esq. of Lincoln's Inn, and he having no issue, the estates went to his sister Anne the wife of Geffrey Little second son of John Little of Parlabiens in parish of Halstead. Geffrey + Anne Little had children: John; Geffrey who m. Elizabeth dg of John Foster Alderman of London with no issue; Thomas Little DD prebendary of Norwich + Minister of Lynne; Elizabeth Little wife of George Pulford; Susanna + Anne etc. [Notes: Ballingdon Hall; Henry Spurling; Dynes Hall; Eden]. http://books.google.co.za/books?ei=X_GsTPDUENHPjAeshZDMCw&ct=result&id=54NnAAAAMAAJ&dq=John+Hawkins+Braintree+Weavers+Drapers&q=Hawkins+Braintree#search_anchor You can note the John Little of Halstead there. There is also one Francis Hawkins of Bocking who must relate closely to this John Hawkins of Braintree. I ''think'' both these Little + Hawkins families originate from Norfolk. I feel that this LITTLE family might need a strong review further and see what happens with it. I notice that persons high up in this Weavers Company carry the title of Gent. Another Hawkins is servant to Lord Maynard. === John Marcum, [Great Burstead Essex] m1:28-08-1603 Elizabeth Harris, [Great Burstead Essex] m2:03-10-1614 Alice Little, [Great Burstead Essex] * Name pattern wise, this Marcum just seems to have some chance ?. But this might be part of the other Markham family living in this town ?. === I have a note: One Jeffrey Little of Levenhall Suffolk has dg Sarah Little who m. James Collin of Chickney Hall Essex (!!!). This should be your (+-R) Collins family it seems. Should be. [DDM]: Hannah Markham, [Middletown CT][06-09-1716], m. Nathaniel Doo Little. === http://books.google.co.za/books?id=DY8QwrhVw7gC&pg=PA32&dq=John+Hawkins+Company+of+Twenty-Four&hl=en&ei=xgKtTNeiNoqRjAf6mvjiBw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CDUQ6AEwAg#v=onepage&q&f=false I will try extract these picture pages some time, read fully pg. 32-33. This Hawkins family connects to the Whipple family of Ipswich MA and the Co. 24. http://books.google.co.za/books?ei=X_GsTPDUENHPjAeshZDMCw&ct=result&id=Azs3AAAAMAAJ&dq=John+Hawkins+Braintree+Weavers+Drapers&q=Braintree#search_anchor http://www.google.co.za/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CBYQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.archive.org%2Fstream%2Fdescendantsofjos00inloom%2Fdescendantsofjos00inloom_djvu.txt&rct=j&q=Loomis%20Braintree&ei=9UOuTJTVFMLJswaHo6jNDQ&usg=AFQjCNFr66iCBs4Y4vw0baJqjiR1Qrli4A&cad=rja Joseph Loomis m. Mary White of Shelford Essex EN. http://books.google.co.za/books?id=HGH9ZschqT4C&pg=PA63&dq=John+Collins+Braintree&hl=en&ei=XKasTO2JEom9jAfkxdXWBw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=9&ved=0CEkQ6AEwCA#v=onepage&q=John%20Collins%20Braintree&f=false You must print and keep this page. (!!!). [Mr. Knoles and Mr. John Colling 'Ministers of the Gospel' in NE]: This John Colling is actually the Rev. John Collins who graduated H.C. 1649 the son of Daniel Markham's uncle Edward Collins of Cambridge NE. Can someone confirm or correct the following: I ''assume'' that the John Collins mentioned in Braintree MA, alongside the one John French (elder person?) chap, would be this same John Collins ?. Is that correct ?. Off-hand: It is in the region of this John French but probably his son John French that took the freedom oath in MA Bay together with Daniel Markham of Mystick River near to one Whitmore. Since Edward Collins son now in NE left NE back to EN, Daniel Collins was next in line to take over the church position that his uncle Edward Collins held in Cambridge NE, which he did, he became the Deacon Daniel Markham of Cambridge MA. === === === John Collins graduated HC 1649, returned to England, was chaplain to Gen. Monk, and afterwards pastor of an Independent Church in London, where he d:03-12-1687. 1639-40: John French and John Collins, of Monoticut (Braintree near Boston MA). Grant of land on the Monatiquot River was made to John Collins. In February 1639-40, only five months after the embodiment of the church, we find a grant of land to John French and John Collins, of Monoticut. Soon after 1643 the iron-works were built on ... === === === [Independent Church in London]: I wonder if this has anything to do with the Samuel Pordage (Walt Disney: ''The Mad Hatter'') church in London (???). = D/DU 161/244 : 21 September 1668 [Admission : John Aylett of Bocking, clothier, on surrender of Samuel COLLINS, Doctor of Medicine, and brother John COLLINS Parcel of waste at Susans Green, copyhold of manor of Braintree Steward: John Attwood, esquire]: We just need to find out the exact connection if any to the Marcum/Markham families in Bocking Essex (!!!). It must come to this John Little there etc. = His son Thomas settled in Braintree, and thence removed to Roxbury and Hadley (Savage). "Mr. Knoles and Mr. John Colling" mentioned as "Ministers of the Gospel" were the Rev. Hanserd Knollys and the Rev. John Collins. ============ - S.K.M. - [!!!] ============
