Hi Matt, All, Thanks for sending the information my way. It appears I fit into haplogroup I1c (also known as I2). From the internet I found, I1c is a smaller group mainly found in western Europe 2000 years ago. Many of its members were in western England. (Hence some refer to the group as Celtic). A show called "Journey of Man" on PBS or the National Geographic Channel does a good job explaining genetic mutation and migration. The show is probably too elementary and doesn't get into the specifics of DNA mutation, but it is definitely worth watching. The real value will be when when other male Collins who fit into Collins Eastern Shore trees take the DNA test. I have a few branches of the "Abraham Collins (1648-1719)" tree I would like to verify. I would also like to see if any of the other Collins lines on the shore connect with this line. I will be putting my results on my website in the near future www.collinsfactor.com and will send some email looking for more Collins males to take the test.
