    3. Mitchell Collins Obituary Toledo, IA Chronicle, June 1916 page 3 MITCHELL COLLINS was born in the Northern part of Ireland, 93 years ago (Nov. 1823). At the age of 19 he came to the United States and after spending one year in New York and one Year in the oil fields in Pennsylvania, he came to Clinton, IA, where he remained until 1881. He came to North Tama County, Elberon, IA. In 1890 he purchsed a farm at Waltham, IA and a few years later another one two miles North of Elberon, IA where he continued to make his home. While in Clinton, IA, he married Anna Elizabeth GRAVENOR on September 10, 1871. Anna passed away about 18 years ago. Eight children were born to them, four sons and four daughters. (two daughters and a son died while the family lived in Clinton, IA, (Annie, Fannie & Fred) Those left of the family are: Charles; William, who resides on the family farm; Mrs Nellie JACOBI, of Belle Plaine, IA; Margaret TRELOIR, Elberon, IA, with whom the father made his home during the past year. Mitchell passed away quietly on Tuesday May 23, 1916. The funeral was held Thursday morning at 11:00 A.M. and he was laid to rest in Waltham Cemetery, North of Elberon, IA.
