MGC: John Acton, Goldsmith of London, m3. Blandina dg of John Penvin of Badgwoth Somerset and had 5 kids. He also m:1611 to Frances dg of Francis Gavell of Cobham Surrey and has issue, and also m1:abt1600 to Emme dg of Richard Turner of Tarvin in Chester and had issue. So JA had m3 and issue from each one. Blandina dg of John Penvin was also m. to Henry Skipwith. This John Acton is the son of Thomas Acton who m. Jane Pollor. Here is something interesting: This John Acton Goldsmith of London's parents are Thomas Acton and Jane Pollor [Merington Worcs], and his parents are William Francis Acton [Acton Hall Elmley] and Elizabeth Dudmasonn [Acton Hall Elmley], and his parents are William Acton [Acton Hall Elmley] and Freya Princess of the Swedes from Sweden. One item that caught my eye was one Mr. John Action a Military Colonist of Roanoke, an early arrival there for about one year about 1586-7 (?) or so. [Sp. 'ACTION']. You can read on it on the net. I clearly do not know if he an ACTON. But he is associated with Sir Francis Drake and possibly a Master of a ship ?. We can see that one line of Acton is very high stature. Not just that: John Drake of Winsdor: http://www.xroyvision.com.au/drake/history/hist33.html [The will of Philippa Drake, which appears in print, names both William and Acton, in the same line! She bequeathed to "my son Acton Drake and William Drake and my daughter Joan, now the wife of Robert Collyns, gent., a ring of gold with a death's head, each of value 26s, 8d" (Frank B. Gay, The Descendants of John Drake of Windsor, CT [Rutland, VT., 1933] p. xv).]: We know a line of Collens and Acton are quite closely related. Here above we find the Drake family using Acton as a first name. He was the son of Richard Drake of Esher, equerry to Queen Elizabeth. John Drake (son of his cousin William) who was in New England in 1633, was probably the John who came here in 1630 and finally settled in Windsor Conn. where he died 17 Aug. 1659. The Johanna Hooker named as being in New England, was probably Joanna, daughter of Rev. Thomas Hooker of Hartford Conn. who married Rev. Thomas Sheppard of Cambridge Mass.] This [Salmon] surname a few days ago when looking into Colchester area etc., there is an alias surname into [Salmon], can't remember what it was from right now(!!!). Wood and Ward families (!!!). Clackton (Clacton) in Essex: This one of the 3-4 places I have just mentioned recently in Essex that pertains to the main Collens tree I have just pointed out to be +-R's tree etc. Here again we are back to this Griggs and Greene and William + Abigail Markham ale Marchant of Ipswich England. This Markham of Ipswich will be related as I have said. And with a wife named Abigail, it is almost a foregone conclusion ?. Is she a Ward ?. Even in Myland there one Ward family there too. Anyway, this web page must be kept for future ref. ***: I have to mention that is there not a Fitz-wauter in or around Colchester ?. There is, ... ... ... , I think, not one John??? Markham alias Walter? around Colchester ?. The place name is probably here again meant to be Bramford in Suffolk, probably confused by the writer with the family surname of Bamford no doubt.... It is the slip of the pen after having so many people surnamed Bamford around the text. The Wheeler family will be related it seems back in EN. Stiles too. http://www.webpak.net/~cdm2/kimball/pafg175.htm [Some Notes]: Now there seems to a COLLENS (Collyns) family in and about Wiscombe Devonshire (!!!). Mr. Wright m. Collens Drake in Wiscombe Devonshire. [COLLENS]. Robert Collyns b:1588 Wiscombe Devonshire m:1621. (England) Joan Drake b:1592 Wiscombe Devonshire. This all puts a slightly different perspective to what I am looking at ... ... ... - S.K.M. - [!!!] ==================== "I sometimes wonder how many people can actually sit back and consider how lucky one can be to experience a Human life on Earth? To be able to have one chance to see the Universe and wonder about it. Can you imagine a Universe without Life, nothing would know it was even there at all !!!". S.K.M. ====================
