In need of confirming the name of Mary COLLINS, born: poss. Abt. 1790 poss. in South Carolina, living later in Ellisville, Jones County, MS, who married Evan ELLZEY of South Carolina to Ellisville, Jones County, MS. The COLLINS - ELLZEY is from my paternal grandmother's PARKER - LEWIS - BRIGHT - JENNINGS family group that married into the ELLZEY - COLLINS family. Specifically, I am trying to find the COLLINS family of Orangeburgh County, South Carolina whose daughter, Mary COLLINS, born: 1788 prob. in Orangeburgh County, SC, is believed to have married Evan ELLZEY, born: Abt, 1776 probably in Orangeburgh County, SC, both probably died in Ellisville, Jones County, Mississippi. Mary COLLINS? and Evan ELLZEY were the parents of 3 known children at this time: (1.) George W. ELLZEY, born: 1810 in Orangeburgh County, South Carolina, died: ? in ?, md: Eliza HOSKINS, born: March 19, 1821 in ?, who was the daughter of Susannah BRIDGES, born: Abt. 1800 in ?, and Henry HOSKINS, born: Abt. 1800 in ?. Children of Eliza HOSKINS and George W. ELLZEY were: John E. ELLZEY and William Henry ELLZEY. (2.) Irvin E./Evan? ELLZEY, born: 1821 in SC? or MS?, died: ? in ?, md: ? ? (3.) Harriet(t) ELLZEY, born: 1824 prob. in Jones County, Mississippi, died: ? in ?, md: John LEWIS, born: Abt. 1820 in Covington or Jones County, Mississippi, died: Abt. 1880 poss. in Rankin County, Mississippi, who was the son of Nancy COPELAND, (d/o Rachael TUCKER & Ripley COPELAND, Sr., (RS,)) and Nancy's husband, Howell LEWIS.) Harriett ELLZEY and John LEWIS were the parents of: Martha Ann, Cintha, Nancy, Mary "Polly?," Sarah "Sally?," Elizabeth "Betty?," John L., Rachael Moranda/Marinda "Randa/Randy" LEWIS. I descend from Harriett ELLZEY and John LEWIS through their daughter, Rachael Moranda/Marinda "Randa/Randy" LEWIS; however, I am still trying to uncover either a mystery/secret or a simple error and/or confusion along the way. In original information that I received from my father regarding his mother, Allie Artimissa PARKER, and her mother, Rachael Moranda/Marinda "Randa/Randy" LEWIS, the information stated that Rachael Moranda's father was named John LEWIS but it showed her mother as Karrie KNIGHT. Now, the name of Karrie could possibly have been someone's confusion at some point looking at handwriting showing the name of Harriet and the name of KNIGHT could possibly have been confusion with the name of BRIGHT as my great grandmother, Rachael Moranda/Marinda "Randa/Randy" LEWIS, is known to have married twice to her 1st known husband, John Wesley BRIGHT, and then to my paternal great grandfather, Spencer B. PARKER, born: 1859 in either Smith or Rankin County, Mississippi, (son of Sarah "Sally" JENNINGS and Jeremiah "Jerry" PARKER.) Adding to the confusion is the information that Rachael Moranda/Marinda "Randa/Randy" LEWIS married both known husbands under the name of Moranda COLEMAN. We don't know why. There is no information about a previous husband nor the dates of recorded information make it appear that either of her parents married anyone else. There are COLEMAN and KNIGHT families in Jones County, MS that did marry into these various groups closely but just don't have anything else yet to go on. My grandmother, Allie Artimissa PARKER, born: 1892 near Braxton, Simpson County, MS, married James Martin "Jim" MYRICK, born: 1892 near Magee, Simpson County, Mississippi, (son of Harriet Katherine "Hattie" HERRINGTON and Calvin Pierce "Callie" MYRICK.)
