    3. I am searching for my Collins Ancestors and wondered if there might be a connection to someone. At one time my brickwall was Samuel Houston Collins of Jackson Co. Alabama and still is to some degree. Samuel was born Abt. 1851 and died in 1921 in Morris Co. TX and is buried there as well. Samuel married Lucinda (Lou Endie) Culver, daughter of David Culver and Martha Isbell Culver. Until last year we had no idea who Samuel's parents were, although there are many Collins in Jackson Co. AL and it was most likely that he connected to these Collins, we weren't sure how. The Collins, Isbells, and Culvers all lived in close proximity of each other in Jackson Co. AL.. Samuel was said to have been of Native American descent but we can't prove that. We knew that Sam had a brother that went to Texas when he turned 18 and was never heard from again.....no name tho and we knew that Sam's father died and his mother remarried but again no name. On Sam's death certificate it listed his ! fathers name as Houston but this turned out to be wrong. After much searching a cousin of mine found a Hezekiah Collins born in NC 1830 in the 1860 Monroe Co. TN Census with wife Nancy (born in TN) and S.H. Collins (which my GGGrandfather was referred to alot of the time) right age for my Sam H. and brother William. We are reasonably certain that this is our Sam's family. The 1870 Jackson Co. Census finds Nancy Collins, Sam H. and William living there with Nancy Widowed. We have copies of Hezekiah's Service Records from the Civil War. He died October 30, 1864 in Richmond VA at Chimborazo Hospital. We haven't been able to find where he is buried though. We have recently found a Hezekiah Collins (right age) in 1850 Blount Co. TN Census with Azariah, Rebecca, Lav, Marg, James, and W.A. Collins. No parents listed but possibly brothers and sisters. Does any of this sound familiar to you? Thanks for your help!
