    2. Kegley's Virginia Frontier_, 1938, F.B. Kegley, says: FORT CHRISTANNA BUILT FOR A PROTECTION TO FRIENDLY INDIANS AND WHITE SETTLERS ON THE SOUTHWESTERN FRONTIER, 1714 " ... Fort Christanna was built on the Meherrin [River] by Gov. Spotswood. Tracts of land were laid out for the different tribes. For the security of the fort a captain and twelve men were apponted to resied there. The fort was equipped with five cannon. When the Indian Company was incorporated to control the Indian trade this new settlement became an important trading post." Who were these 12 men that resided in the fort?
